La base de la tenue du cycliste
Le choix de la tenue de vélo n’est pas toujours évident. Le bon déroulement d’une sortie peut en dépendre.
La tenue de base du cycliste est composée de plusieurs vêtements techniques conçus spécifiquement pour la pratique du vélo dans les meilleures conditions. Elle est composée de :
- un cuissard velo : Shorty avec ou sans bretelles équipé d'une peau plus ou moins dense à l'entrejambe pour assurer le confort du cycliste pendant le pédalage
- un maillot velo : Symbole dans le cyclisme comme dans de nombreux sports, le maillot est un vêtement technique assurant une bonne régulation de la transpiration. Il peut être à manches courtes, longues ou sans manche. Il se porte près du corps en version route ou plus ample en version vtt.
- des chaussettes velo : Comme toutes chaussettes de sport, elles doivent assurer maintien et garder les pieds au sec.
- des gants velo : courts ou longs, les gants de cyclisme offrent un confort supplémentaire au cycliste qui doit tenir son guidon pendant de nombreux kilomètres sur des routes ou des chemins plus ou moins chaotiques. Légèrement rembourrés, ils offrent une meilleure prise et absorbent les vibrations. Les gants longs protègent les mains contre le froid ou l'humidité.
Un équipement de vélo complémentaire mais indispensable
En plus de la tenue de base du cycliste, il est fortement recommandé de posséder quelques vêtements spécifiques qui sauront se rendre utiles dans des conditions particulières :
- un maillot de corps chaud en hiver ou à mailles aérées en été pour maintenir le corps au sec.
- un collant long pour l'hiver pour garder les jambes au chaud.
- une paire de manchette pour garder les bras au chaud ou les aérer quand il faut.
- une paire de jambières ou de genouillères pour pouvoir également chauffer ou aérer les jambes.
- une veste coupe-vent comme son nom l’indique...
- une veste de pluie pour ne pas prendre l’eau.
- une veste thermique pour rouler par temps très froid.
- une paire de sur-chaussures pour garder les pieds à l’abri du froid et de la pluie.
