All our pads have a special anti-bacterial treatment
It is not uncommon to hear of cycling apparel being washed at excessively high temperatures, the thinking being the higher the temperature the more hygienic the wash. This is a misconception. A delicate wash at 30°C is sufficient to prevent the proliferation of bacteria. Neutral and non-aggressive detergents, without bleach or fabric conditioners (they may reduce the pad’s compression foam), are sufficient to eliminate all bacteria.
High-temperature washes do not provide further benefits for your health. Instead, they compromise the life expectancy of your cycling apparel, plus they damage the fabric and the foams used in pads. Lower washing temperatures are also more environmentally-friendly.
We recommend an initial wash prior to using the garment for the very first time. We also recommend that soiled and dirty clothing is not left unwashed, as residual sweat will impregnate the fabric and damage the garment.
Avoid too, using tumble dryers, though if you cannot, dry at very low temperatures on short cycles.
